ASPCA SAFER® + Temperament & Drive Assessments

To ensure the most effective and humane training plan, we start with a one-on-one session that includes the ASPCA SAFER® assessment, a seven-part behavioral evaluation designed to gauge your dog’s comfort with touch, restraint, and novel stimuli. This includes:

Reactions to movement and sound
Bite inhibition
Behavior around food and toys
Arousal levels around other dogs

In addition to the SAFER® test, we incorporate custom temperament, drive, and psychological evaluations to build a full picture of your dog’s personality and behavior.

This initial one-hour evaluation gives us the insight needed to make professional recommendations tailored to your dog’s needs—and helps us design the right training strategy to support your goals, whether for basic obedience, behavior modification, or advanced protection work.
